Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to host bus franchising consultation drop-in events in Wisbech

10:06, 12 September 2024

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority will be hosting a series of drop-in events across the region this autumn to help everyone have their say on the bus franchising consultation.

Taking place this month and next, the events will give people the opportunity to meet members of the consultation team in person, share their views about local bus services face-to-face and give feedback in the consultation.

Events will be happening in a variety of busy places where people catch the bus including town centre shopping areas and bus stations, and in locations such as Wisbech, Ely, Huntingdon, Peterborough, Northstowe, and Cambridge. They are being held to coincide with popular travelling times in the day.

One of the drop-ins will be held off the Freedom Bridge Roundabout next to the river in Wisbech.

The Wisbech drop-in will be held on Wednesday, October 2 from 2pm to 4pm in the town’s Market Place, and on the same day 4.30pm to 6.30pm at the Freedom Bridge roundabout beside the river.

Further drop-in events will be announced later in the consultation period. Dates and times, as well as detailed location and travel information, can be found on the consultation website: cpca-yourvoice.co.uk/bus-franchising

Chief executive of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, Rob Bridge, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible which is why we’re bringing the consultation to you. We understand that, for many, the opportunity to have a conversation in person really matters and means more people can take part.

“Helping to involve everyone also really matters to us, so don't miss your opportunity to tell us what you think about how bus services should be run in the future.”

The consultation is running until November 20, 2024. It will inform a decision by the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on how to reform buses across the area.

For anyone who can’t attend a drop-in event, there are lots of other ways to take part in the consultation including completing an online questionnaire via the Combined Authority website as above.

People can also print out the consultation documents and post their responses by calling 01480 277180 to receive a FREEPOST envelope. All survey returns should be sent to the following address: Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Bus Franchising Consultation, 2nd Floor, Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE29 3TN.
