Trial shuttle bus will link Chatteris with Manea railway station
A trial run of a proposed new bus service that will link one Fenland town with a village railway station is set for next month.
The trial of the proposed Chatteris - Manea railway station shuttle is being carried out on Saturday, August 10, to link up with the Peterborough-bound train service – and it will cost users just £1.
Leaving East Park Street at 8.45am it is due to arrive at Manea station in time for the 9.11am train to Peterborough.
The shuttle bus will then return to Chatteris ready to begin the already established Chatteris to Cambridge run that leaves at 10am.
The shuttle bus will also operate a return journey from Manea station in the early evening to coincide with the arrival of the 6.17pm train from Peterborough with the shuttle bus arriving back in Chatteris at around 6.30pm
Chatteris Councillor James Carney, who has been working towards establishing the service, said: “This will hopefully form the basis of a wider shuttle service I'm looking to establish to link Chatteris with Manea railway station train times and open up wider and more sustainable transport options to everyone.
“No need to book - just turn up; a nominal fee of £1 per passenger is all that's required upon boarding the shuttle!
“Thanks to FACT for assisting with this new scheme, let's hope it's a success.”
