March faces FA Vase test at Biggleswade United after fine comeback win at Northampton O.N.Chenecks
March Town manager Ashley Taylor is expecting another tough assignment as the Hares continue their FA Vase adventure on Saturday.
The Hares travel to Spartan South Midlands Football League side Biggleswade United as they look to progress through to the last 64 of the national competition.
Looking ahead to the tie, Taylor said: "Of course, with this being our fourth game in the Vase it’s going to be a difficult tie.
"I’ve heard really good things about them but we will just prepare around what we can do and not worry about the opposition."
March are likely to be backed by a large number of travelling fans and Taylor says the supporters have another huge part to play.
"Against Coggeshall the fans were amazing and 100 per cent made a difference to what we can do in the game," he said.
"We will be taking a full coach again and hopefully we can give them another day to remember."
March pulled off a fantastic recovery to win their United Counties Premier South top-four clash 3-2 at Northampton O.N.Chenecks at the weekend.
The Hares, who fielded new signings Toby Allen and Harvey Henderson in their line-up, found themselves 2-0 down after just 21 minutes but pulled one back through Andre Williams after 24 minutes to make it 2-1 at the break.
Second-half efforts from Matty Foy in the 69th minute and Dan Cotton’s ninth of the season eight minutes later wrapped up the win.
"It was a tough game against a direct physical opponent which we struggled with the first 20 and found ourselves 2-0 down," said Taylor.
"We had to change a few things tactically and we showed great fight and character to come back and win the game.
"The lads deserve nothing but credit and praise for turning a very difficult game around.
"It feels like a big win in particular with the circumstances we found ourselves in and also against one of the top teams in the league.
"In a season to feel moments like we did Saturday is important and if we face challenges like that again in a game we know what we are capable of."
Allen returned to Robin Goodfellows Lane after a spell at Wisbech Town while central defender Henderson signed on dual registration with Grantham Town.
The March boss praised the performance of both players at Northampton O.N.Chenecks, saying: "Both players were excellent.
"Neither of them had trained with the group and it takes some time to understand us as a team and to understand your teammates but they adapted well.
"Toby was a constant threat and on another day would have scored and Hendo grew stronger and stronger as the game went on."
Both of March's new faces are cup-tied for the trip to Bedfordshire.
March: Gill, Green, Brumby, Withers, Henderson, Saunders, Cotton, Tait, Allen, Foy, Williams. Subs: Burrows, Gillies, Cowie, Biggs, Pepper.
Star man: Toby Allen.
